after spending 6mths in Alicante I believe that (creo que si) I have found a good purpose for my blog i.e to focus on things in the Portland Oregon area where I live that I believe will be great experiences for both visitors and locals. So without further ado lets get this party started (yes another line from a song) that part of me hasn't changed. What I did learn in Alicante is just how valuable a local guide's input is. Hopefully there will be a wide variety of things for anyone to try.
Spain/Alicante was an increible experience. There isn't enough time or words to begin to describe how marvilloso it was. I did how ever find a culture so amazing and interesting, people so loving who fed my soul. Great food ! La Mediterraneo which lived up to it's name. Once the water became warm it was a daily thing for me. I would be there by myself smiling and enjoying. Learning a language isn't easy and I gained a real respect for anyone who speaks other languages fluently. In that quest I'm afraid to admit what I may have said to the Spanish what things they cringed at that came out of mi boca. But I am totally in love with the place and hope to go back often.
Multnomah Falls .... Although a popular must see I do recommend visiting here. If you can start off and drive along the scenic highway there are some nice things to see. Stopping at the forum to look out over the scenic gorge has a great view. There is a good moment just to relax before continuing on the windy but beautiful trip. Before you actually get to Multnomah Falls on the scenic hwy you will encounter many other smaller falls if you have the time it's worth stopping and taking the short hike in to see them. Some are actually on the road and all you need to do is park and take a look. Once you get to Multnomah Falls the lodge isn't a bad place for a meal or desert depending on your budget. Often I take a short walk up to the bridge at the falls. But if you are in for it hike all the way up to the top there is a deck you can actually look out over the falls. Also you see the water source for the falls which is quite interesting.
